If so did they sprout around the same time frame? If there are variegated foxladies, they are obvious. What I have noticed is that the width of the foxylady leaves tend to be a little wider and a little more dark hairs on the leaf bases. @here does anyone have Foxy Lady seed they would like to sell?
From what I understand about F2 hybrids, this result is not surprising. Kind of like a cross between foxtail fiber and the very smooth Vechis fiber. Here is the 5th seed that failed float test. I picked up a few seed that was on the ground while taking pics.

From the pic seems like your palm flew across the country unharmed. Actually,light variegation is not a bad thing. Premier has sargentii seedlings and 7gal vinifera but they don’t know how to ship.

Maybe something I might try to track as time goes on. Look how elongated this viable F2 seed is, that I picked up yesterday. Maybe a few other palmtalkers that I sold F2 to can pipe in. The F2 I am growing so far is hard to tell if they will have the vigor yet, but so far, so good. The over variegated ones seem to languish and slowly die or just grow very slow, probably due to lack of chlorophyll.

• Sometime even though they are hard, they float.
• Foxtails that I’ve grown all seem to throw one spear and sit for a long time (weeks to months), at which point they resume normal growth.
• Been in pots in the greenhouse for a couple years, very hard to tell.
• The foxtails have been grown in some shade, and the foxyladies have been growing in at least 1/2 day Sun.
• Well mine has a sparse seed set that dropped today.
• Do you have a FULL shade spot under some trees or overhang?

Wow that looks like a lot of growth for 6 months since planting. I wonder if the very elongated seed has more Veitchia traits and the more rounded F2 seed has the foxtail traits? Typically I find the F1 does have the hybrid vigor, except when they are very variegated. Only the variegated FL produced viable seed so far, but none of the seedlings are variegated. That is how you can tell the difference between foxtail and Foxy Lady hybrid.
The Caryota had to be edited after it flowered; this is the nature of a garden that some plant won’t outlive us. Obviously the dark spots on the trunk remain as photographed above . Two years later and the palm is still standing but also continuing to show the consistent tilt. The real bummer is that I will also eventually have to remove the other big palm in that corner of the garden because it is a Caryota that will eventually flower. I think I would be more worried about the dark weeping spots.
Note the smooth texture of the seed fiber compared to a course fiber foxtail. I do not grow foxtails, so there could not be a mix up there. I have plenty of foxtails and Veitchia arecina in the yard so maybe it did a cross back with one of them to become fertile? I don’t want to give a utility an excuse to start cutting back other healthy palms in my garden that are even further from the phone lines than this one. Perhaps as a couple of adjacent palms get a little larger I’ll have to be proactive and remove it, along with a -postmortem of what was happening internally at the weeping site.

I have 2 that look just like a foxy gold casino foxtail. I know of 1 other grower in Cape Coral that gets viable seed. Here are a few pics of some of the F2’s that I am growing out to sell. The vast majority of the good looking seed are NOT viable. Sometime even though they are hard, they float.
I am lousy at keeping seedlings alive let alone sargentii seedlings! I am good with the outcome either way, but if you really want to rid yourself of that ‘ugly’ plant,I am ready to adopt. I would LOVE to own that ‘ugly’ palm.
Are they the same as an F1 growth rate? I don’t know the different rates of growth for them in Florida. Will the seed look like the one you show above, or is that just the f2? I didn’t notice it until after the seedling got bigger… I have a Butia x Jubaea F2 that looks exactly like a Butia and growth speed is very similar to Butia.

Yeah I had one sprout a while back but had some irrigation issues to my potted plants in my absence and it ended up drying out and dying. Never noticed seed on the variegated Foxy located in another part of the collection. Floribunda had some f2 foxy ladies a while ago. The one I’m growing in Leucadia is from the same source and purchased about the same time, as this and another “Foxy Lady” I have.

Leaning Foxy Lady palm

I’ve been growing this foxy lady a few years now and I think it’s time to rehome her. Is there any way to tell if seeds are hybridized by looking at them as they develop? So my question would be if this palm is mostly green will it do well in full sun The green form tends to perform better in full all day sun than the variegated which burns more easily especially in hot dry sun. For the past few months, specimens are in the 1gal pot size, with the palm being around a 1’ in height, most are variegated form.

@96720 Taking a look at your foxy lady in the pic. I have an f2 foxy lady I might be interested in letting go if you are interested I can come pick up that palm at your convenience,deliver you $200 cash, plus the 3 Pseudophoenix seedlings in the pic if you would be interested in selling. I have got palms from Flouibunda and jungle music and never had the problem I had with this palm of you are going to ship palms at least learn how to pack them!!! I never said the palm looked bad I said it was basically bare root and variegated which I specifically said I didn’t want!!!
Never observed even hints of varigation on any of the solid green specimens i have seen in both FL. Now correct me if I am wrong is it true that even the green ones will spit out some variation in its life span ? There is a variegated one on ebay right now ends in 21 hours Yup, and that’s why 100% green go for more $$ Regular ‘ol green specimens always look flawless.
Can you tell me if this baby foxy is a full green ? I bought one like that on eBay recently and it will eventually be planted in a shady/partially sunny area of the garden. The collection has a few standard green Foxies, and a Variegated specimen whose crown receives full sun.
Hot and dry in summer, humid and sticky monsoon season, perfect weather Christmas time One is variegated and the other is not?? Are they famous because they are the first to produce viable seed? Being in tropical Cairns, they were probably seedlings 3 yrs ago.
Unfortunately for you, you’ve got that nasty brown spotting along with the crown lean which makes it look like this one is on the decline. You can see how the trunk is starting to sort of concave a little on the side with the brown spotting. I guess I better start thinking about what I want to plant in it’s place eventually. Yet another sign of demise after the last frond dropped is a horizontal crack in the most external crownshaft sheath. Boron deficiency has been identified as the cause of palm leaning syndrome. I have a couple of other Foxy Ladies that I got roughly at the same time which each shoe different characteristics, but I digress from the issue.
